A new sculpture is slowly coming to life in my studio.
Beyond Divisions explores the bond between mother and child through figures that exist somewhere between the human and animal worlds. A centaur mother lifts her rabbit-like child towards her in a moment of closeness, movement and play.
The work is about a connection that exists beyond form, species and difference — a bond that needs no explanation.
The sculpture is still in progress. The next stage will be refining the details and preparing the model for bronze casting.
