Silent

I come from the country, where there is a saying: Children should be seen not heard [In Polish it sounds: Children and fish have no voice].

I needed to explain this saying to you explicitly, because otherwise you would not understand my sculpture.

When I was a child, in many houses in Poland children were ignored when they wanted to take part in a discussion with adults. They were not listened to, were not allowed to express their opinions, couldn’t share their fears and anxieties when adults were talking.

Silent sculpture is a projection of an adult human being, who as a child was kept quiet so many times that now it is impossible to produce any sound to express her needs and desires.
